March 21st, "Bright Lights, Big City"

Dear ORCS Parents, On Saturday March 21, 2009 ORCS will be hosting its annual auction. The theme this year is, “Bright Lights, Big City.” It is going to be a great evening celebrating our school and all of our exceptional teachers who help our children strive to be bright lights in our big world. The annual auction is the school’s primary fundraiser. In the past, money raised from this event has gone towards purchasing classroom equipment, keeping tuition fees reasonable, offering tuition assistance, and maintaining the high quality pre-school and kindergarten education programs.

With support from ORCS families and businesses in and around our community, previous auctions have allowed the school to purchase playground equipment, install new doors, purchase a copy machine, paint and carpet the classrooms, install new floor in the big room and most of all, proceeds have kept tuition fees moderate.

We had our first auction meeting earlier this month and couldn’t be more excited about the involvement of our ORCS families. It is going to be a fabulous evening due to the team that is already working hard and dedicating themselves to the success of the evening. We are still looking for a few volunteers to join the procurement team. Members of the team will send out letters to previous donors and potential new donors, and follow up with them to secure an item for this year’s auction. If you are interested in joining the procurement team, please contact our procurement chair, Suzanne Yu, directly.
