Our Staff

The ORCS staff brings a passion for teaching and over 280 collective years of primary education experience to the classroom every day. They are dedicated to serving your children and working with you to make sure your student is learning and growing.

All teachers and assistants are CPR certified.

 

Mary Hubbard

School Director

Mary has been with ORCS since 1984. She was raised in Orlando, Florida and graduated from Florida State University received a B.S. degree in Child Development with Early Childhood and Elementary Education certifications and a M.A. in Language and Literacy from Rollins College, Winter Park, Florida. She is married and has one child. She taught the 3s and 4s classes at ORCS for 11 years and has served as the Director for the past 12 years. She previously taught 1st, 3rd, 5th and 6th grades in Florida and New Jersey. She enjoys reading, sporting events (especially ones involving her beloved FSU Seminoles!), travel, theatre, symphony, staying in touch with friends, family and former students.


Cheryl Masters

ORCS Bookkeeper

Cheryl has been with ORCS since 2000. She was raised in Bellevue, Washington, graduated from Eastside Catholic High School and took classes at Western Washington University. She is married and has two children. She enjoys reading, camping, antiquing and visiting Dixie, Idaho.


Jan Barnhart

Teaching Assistant 2s and Office Manager

Jan has been with ORCS since 1988. She was raised in Wenatchee, Washington and attended Deconess School of Nursing. She is married and has two children. She enjoys reading mysteries and cookbooks, crocheting, gardening, country music and being with her granddaughter.


Karen LaBarge-King

Office Assistant

Karen has been with ORCS since 1999. She was raised in Woodland Hills, California and received a B.S. degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences from the University of California, Santa Barbara and a M.S. degree in Speech Pathology from the University of Washington. She is married and has two children. She enjoys quilting, traveling, family activities and music (especially when played by her kids!).


Linda Overland

Teacher 2s

Linda has been with ORCS since 1987. She was raised in Spokane and received her B.A. degree in Education from Eastern Washington University. She is married and has three children. She previously taught for 10 years in the Northshore School District. She enjoys reading, traveling, vanilla lattes and flowers.


Sue Rosebrook

Teaching Assistant 2s

Sue has been with ORCS since 2000. She was raised in Duluth, Minnesota and graduated from Denfield High School. She is married and has two children. She has always been active in Children’s Ministry programs at her church and enjoys dried flower arranging, crafts, shopping, collecting flamingoes and her grandchildren.


Sue Hagan

Teacher 3s

Sue has been with ORCS since 1999. She was raised in Napa, California and received a B.S. degree from California State University, Sacramento. She is married and has two children. She previously taught preschool in California. She enjoys traveling, cooking, running, reading and family activities.


Christa Donahue

Teaching Assistant 3s

Christa has been with ORCS since 2008. She was raised in Kirkland, Washington and received a Law degree from UWIST in Cardiff, Wales. She is married and has three children. She enjoys gardening, making cards and family vacations.


Susan Kattenhorn

Teaching Assistant 3s and 4s

Susan has been with ORCS since 1992. She was raised in Sacramento, California and received a B.A. in Geography and Urban Planning from Sacramento State University and completed some graduate level courses. She is married and has two children. She enjoys cookbooks, cats, shopping, Mexican food and travel.


Deb Marpert

Teacher 3s

Deb has been at ORCS since 1999. She was raised in Southern California and received a B.A. in Urban Geography from Trinity Western University in Vancouver, British Columbia. She is married and has two children. She enjoys sewing, quilting, cooking, reading, gardening and classic movies.


Helen Schild

Teacher 4s

Helen returned to ORCS in 2007. She was raised in Tracy, Minnesota and graduated from Solano Community College with an Early Childhood Education Certificate. She is married and has two children. She taught in the Ready Start Program in the Lake Washington School District from 1999 to 2007, and previously at ORCS from 1986 to 1999. She enjoys watching sports, reading, boating and traveling.


Jane Christie

Teacher 4s

Jane has been with ORCS since 1998. She was raised in Mount Vernon, Washington and received a B.A. degree in Psychology and an Elementary Teaching Certificate from the University of Washington. She is married and has three children. She enjoys gardening, reading and quilting.


Bonnie Schwindt

Teacher 4s and Teaching Assistant K

Bonnie has been with ORCS since 1997. She was raised in Woodinville, Washington and earned an A.A. degree from Edmonds Community College. She is married and has two children. She enjoys shopping, crafts, sewing and family activities.


Julie Marovich

Teaching Assistant 4s

Julie has been with ORCS since 1995. She was raised in Kirkland, Washington and graduated from Juanita High School and Bellevue Beauty School. She is married and has two children. She enjoys music, dancing, camping and family activities – especially with her twin sister!


Amy Shirley

Teaching Assistant

Amy has been with ORCS since 2008. She was raised in Colfax, Washington. She is married with three children. She enjoys volleyball, sewing, Seahawks games and drinking coffee.


Sharon Radebaugh

Teacher K

Sharon has been with ORCS since 1981. She was born and raised in Kirkland and Redmond, Washington and received a B.A. degree in Elementary Education from Western Washington University. She is married and has two children. She previously taught public school in Bellingham. She enjoys music, reading, scrap booking, golfing, gardening and her grandchildren.
